A role with explicit limits
An agent may retrieve information, classify a request, draft a response or trigger a permitted workflow. It should not receive unlimited access or broad authority simply because it can interpret natural language.
Automation / Agents
A business AI agent can receive a defined task, work with approved information and authorized tools, produce an output and request review when the boundary of its responsibility is reached.
An agent may retrieve information, classify a request, draft a response or trigger a permitted workflow. It should not receive unlimited access or broad authority simply because it can interpret natural language.
Permissions, logs, review thresholds, failure handling and escalation paths make the agent understandable to the people responsible for the process. These controls are designed before autonomy is considered.
We define the information an agent may consult, the tools it may use and the output it should produce. An agent that drafts a response does not automatically receive permission to send it, change an account or make a purchase.
Evaluation includes requests outside the agent's role, missing evidence and unsuccessful tool calls. A reliable handoff to a person is part of the expected behavior when the assignment cannot be completed within its limits.
