Website Redesign Checklist for Growing Businesses

A redesign should improve the system beneath the interface. Inventory what already earns trust or traffic before deciding what to replace.

Start with an inventory

List current pages, forms, integrations, analytics, high-value URLs and useful content. This creates the redirect plan and protects the pages that already carry search or referral value.

Clarify each page's job

Give commercial pages, supporting resources, location pages and proof pages distinct purposes. When every page tries to say everything, customers and search engines both lose the thread.

Test before the switch

Verify the preview site on mobile and desktop, then check redirects, canonicals, sitemap, robots, forms and primary calls to action. The cutover should be a controlled release, not a reveal.

Common question

Will a redesign hurt search rankings?

It can if valuable content, URLs or technical signals disappear. A content inventory and redirect map reduce that risk and create a baseline for post-launch monitoring.
